Did you know that there are STILL 2000 languages without any part of the Bible translated?
Snail's Pace
Sunday, 05 September 2010 09:39
Yesterday it took us a full THREE hours to walk just the first 10km.
That's our slowest pace to date.
Normally it would take us less than two hours to walk 10km. Can you guess why it took us so long yesterday?
a) We were distracted by an ice-cream shop?
b) We had radio interviews by phone?
c) We were attacked by unfriendly farm dogs?
d) We got our shoes wet crossing a creek?
Two of the above are actually true. Firstly, we were enticed into the famous "Frosty Mango" ice-cream shop, and then Carnsey had a couple of radio interviews. The latter can be quite a challenge right beside the noisy highway and with limited mobile phone coverage here. Check out this video to get an idea of what it's like. And here's a challenge - see if you can pick the mistake he made - ie. gave wrong information. We got a good laugh out of it afterwards!!!

... G'day mates = SAV and friends. Been following your blog and I'm amazed at all the opportunities along the way and the interest and support you're getting. Can't see that happening over here - although evidently a lot of it is down to good planning and excellent communication e.g. the impressive website. How are the shoes holding out?! And your back? How about walking at night if the weather gets hot? Greetings, prayers and amazement from the UK! |

... You like to make me laufh too much. I can only think about your walking and my running. You can stop for ice cream? Really. You can cross the creek and wet your feet? Really. You can get the telephone receiption when you are walking everywhere? Really. But do not worry about those farm dogs. The good time to worry is when you step on an Ethiopian Triangle Python. Then you will "walk" the next 5 kilometres in short time for sure and sure. It is called "running". |

... Don't worry Carnsey, at least you got the numbers of languages correct... now, that would have been embarassing if you forgot the number 2000! |

... You did actually start walking on the 24th not the 14th August? It would certainly appear longer if you are walking I guess ... Then again perhaps there is a parallel universe which is 10 days out of sync with this universe and the Frosty Mango was a mystic portal... |

... Don't it them tease you about the starting date. It is only minor. The main thing is that you are there now and walking even though some distractions appear along the way. You are allowed to enjoy this walk, you know. Cheers to Ice cream shops along a long, road. |

... the mistake you made was that you left on Aug 14 and have been going 11 days, you maths is out, but you left Cairns on 23 Aug. Was great to hear your presentation last night. |

... Yep, I think too that it's the 'south of' comment. I enjoy the Frosty Mango every time I pass and I'm sure you've enjoyed the visit too. :-) Our prayers are with you! |

... Your becoming an absolute pro on radio interviews Andrew. I can imagine their could be quite a few different situations you will find yourself in at the time a radio interview comes in. I suggest you don't video them all and put them up on the web..but on the other hand??? |
