Beach Sand, Gympites and Surprise Blessings

sign_cardwellBeach Sand, Gympites and Surprise Blessings - Dave

At 10am yesterday, despite numerous attempts over a number of months to organise a meeting in Cardwell, we didn't have even a hint of a meeting. Nothing had come from the letters, emails or phone calls that had been made in the months leading up to the walk. Nothing had come from the numerous inquires made by our contacts in neighbouring towns over the last few weeks. Nothing had even come from the last ditch effort and ring around on Sunday night after the very successful Tully meeting, so we had basically written-off Cardwell as a non-event, however, the Lord had other plans.

At 10:15am, we received an inquiring phone call (from Gympie friends), at noon Carnsey, Sav and I prayer by the side of the highway, and I went to set up the equipment in faith. At 4:30pm we put up the sign and made a few random phone calls and when it came to 7pm, the front room of the Cardwell Catholic Church had more people in it than had attended our Cairns meeting. Those who came together yester-evening, collectively were one of the most interested and interactive audiences to date. It was a huge blessing and encouragement to us to continue to trust the Lord in all things.  We really had no idea what to expect after deciding to do a meeting despite the potential for low (or no) numbers, but the Lord brought along a good number, including a couple Sav knew who live in Gympie but were on their way up to Atherton Table-lands. It was truly a blessing seeing the Lord in action, taking what seemed to us to be an impossible situation and bringing such a great blessing (in the form of an encouraging meeting) out of it.

Another of yesterday's blessings was walking on the Cardwell beaches. It was just wonderful to wander along on the hard sand, right next to the waters edge, with nothing to listen to, but the sound of the waves gently washing up the gently sloping beach, while looking out across the ocean at the untouched tropical islands just across the water. No trucks, no cars, no trains, just peace and tranquillity enjoying God's creation. It was the first and possibly last time we get to do some of our 2000km on the beautiful, golden, Queensland beaches.

The weather was not too hot or sunny, and there was a cool breeze that made walking conditions close to perfect for us once again, praise God.
Our accommodation last night was another of God's little blessings. We are allowed to stay (last night and tonight) at the Catholic Church in the priest's quarters, which have all the basics we need, without all the fancy 'bells and whistles' and plenty of room to spread out if we want to. It was not the first place organised for us, but actually the third due to various different reasons but not only that, the details weren't even finalised until after lunch-time yesterday. Again, just one of the ways God has blessed us mightily over the last couple of days.

What about you? What are some of the blessings the Lord has given you recently?

Hi, Andrew, Dave and Sav,

Love reading your blogs and the stories that are coming out of this faith adventure. Hope you are all travelling well. Could you put a plug out for the resource that are up for teachers, kids and youth?

You would be interested to know that Mueller College is collecting 2000 5c pieces (1 of each language group without the gospel). We will get photos on the site soon.

God's blessing,

Anna and Andrew

God's plan is bigger than ours. Don't be discouraged if only a few come to some meetings. If only one person hears your message, that may be the one person who needed to hear it. It was such a blessing to catch up with you tonight. We do pray for you.
Warm regards, Rachel and family!

Hey Andrew, Dave and Sav,
Great to hear that your meeting in Cardwell went well, it is amazing how God sorts things out when we trust Him. Your beach walking sounds wonderful, some of the ones up north are really beautiful, and different to the ones down near Brisbane, I hope that you get to visit more beaches on your trip. Thanks for sharing,
God bless,
Selina.
