Did you know that there are STILL 2000 languages without any part of the Bible translated?

Well ... it's the town we were in yesterday - Tully!! I remember coming through here as a child and being impressed by the amazing statistics, but I never dreamed that one day I'd be walking down the highway here, decked out in water-proof boots and rain-coat!!
Annual rainfall in Tully is 4000mm per year ... yep, that's 4 metres!! A lot of water. Even as I wrote this, the rain was beating down on the roof of our little caravan park cabin, and today we are out walking in it again.
Last night at our meeting I gave a short message on the words of Jesus, "God makes the rain to fall on the righteous and the unrighteous". Great words that remind us that God doesn't have favourites. His love is the same for ALL peoples and for ALL language groups. You could almost be forgiven for thinking otherwise, considering the fact that there are over 100 different translations of the Bible in English and over 2000 distinct languages have NOTHING ... not a single verse. But that discrepancy is due to OUR ethnocentricity and not to favouritism on God's part.

... Hi guys, keep up the good work, you looking fit and ready for more! I talked twice at Rocky Baptist Tabernacle yesterday about the walk and we played the YouTube video each time (the interview). Our pastor prayed for you and spoke of the work of Wycliffe in New Guinea where he was once a missionary. We are really looking forward to you arriving. Being so ahead of schedule, I have calculated you will be here by Monday next week. (About smoko time). |

... Good to see you all relaxed and enjoying yourselves. We were praying for you tonight at our OM meeting at Bald Hills. Maybe if you wear your dirty clothes tomorrow and no raincoat that will save you having to do any laundry :) |

... But is the rain warm? Y'day Sally & I and thousands(it seems) of other Melbournites went rubbernecking to the Maroondah Dam, near Healesville, to watch it overflowing for the first time in many years. God is generous with his gift of rain. Then we went up to L. Eildon and saw water under the Boonie Doon road bridge, again for the first time in years. So refreshing! praise God for his care!
