Did you know that there are STILL 2000 languages without any part of the Bible translated?

Bagpipes, balloons and ... rain ! ! !
The counter on our website is at zero - and 'zero' is a wonderful number when you've been counting down from 2000km!!!
We're home - and 'home' is a beautiful word when you've been away for 80 days!!!
Our walk day started at 9am - we watched the sky turn from a perfect blue when we started walking to a perfect overcast and cool walking day a couple of hours later. Then as the kilometres crunched underfoot we watched the clouds become darker and heard the distant rumble of thunder. And by the end of the day, in perfect timing ... the rain came down on all 100 of us as we walked the last kilometre to the finish line.
The helium balloons lost some of their 'lift' in the rain, but our spirits didn't as the piper led us in to the cheer-squad waiting on the homestead verandah out of the rain.
All up, about 350 people joined in the celebrations.
Now I'm tired.
I'm going to bed.
No walking tomorrow.
No meeting.
No blog (sorry!).
WATCH VIDEO to see some snippets of our last kilometre.

... Many many congratulations! As you well know, rain in Africa is a sign of God's blessing, so He poured it out in abundance as you completed the task He'd set before you. Very moving indeed. Rest well! |

... I am all out of kilter - where I check for Walk blog update and Fb friends - this comforting update. Well, I can imagine how much more the routines and 'rituals' with car, hats and sunscreen, shoes, water, backpacks . . . . will be hard to overcome. All the best meeting the growing circle of friends made and 'small world' connections at the coming meetings. Liam's history teacher knows Sav - Megan Mauch [married name] but only connected when Liam explained his absence for the walk's last 10k. |

... P T L If we are at Matthew 24v8 All these are the beginning of birth-pains. Then we need to take Luke 10v2 to heart to see these 2000+ languages reached.Look these up yourself. |

... Well done, good and faithful walkers!! HE's carried you through. An HE will answer those thousand and ten-thousands of prayers raised through this time of raising awareness! As I've seen you walking I grew in confidence that more people will decide to go in order to follow God's calling: To be his children and to invite others into such tremendous family. For some it will mean digging out their dusty ol' bible, for some to give some away, for some to leave everything and go, for some to train, for some to use the gifts they already got... My prayer is that all of us, even all of us online-followers wouldn't go on as usual but be challenged and would pray to the Lord of the harvest what part we could play in the huge task of remaining bible translation. May God bless the bible-less people groups richly for what has been done within the last 80 days. Please let us know about encouraging developments that can be ascribed The2000walk and what happened around it. Well done, good and faithful walkers! Hearty hugs from Germany, Ben P.S.: THX 2 all who worked hard behind the scenes, especially your families! Very impressive!! |
