Only 100km to go!

Only 100km to go!

100_to_goIt has been 77 days since the beginning of The 2000 Walk.

We have walked a total distance so far of 1900 km.

During this time, we have taken almost 40 meetings.

And now, at last, very tired, we are nearly there. We are just four days from the finish-line.
I don't know if you can imagine how much we are looking forward to that day - and being able to rest.

The end is in sight!!

As Christians we know that our collective journey will also come to an end one day when the Lord returns. This earth will be folded up like a piece of clothing and we will be home with the Lord. We don't know the day or time, but we do have some 'road-signs' in the Bible that give us some clear indications. Like Matthew 24:14 for example: "And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached in the whole world as a testimony to all nations, and then the end will come".

When will the end come? This verse tells us that the end will come only when this gospel has been preached in the whole world ... and to all nations! The word nations is a key word here. It doesn't refer to political nations, like Papua New Guinea, for example, but to the ethnic groups. The word translated "nations" is the Greek word "ethnesin", referring to "peoples" or "ethnic groups". For example, even though Papua New Guinea is one "nation" (in our modern sense of the term) it is made of of 800 "nations" in the Bible sense of this verse.

Jesus says that the end won't come until the gospel has been preached to all "ethnic groups". With over 2000 such groups in the world still without a Bible in a language they can understand, it seems that the road-sign in the Bible is telling us that we have a little way to go yet.

Wheels!!!? What happened to the hubcap idea? Or, does the cruiser have mags? Glad you were finally able to use your idea though. I'm going to miss the regular "wisdom" writings and anecdotes of along the way. God bless you all as you journey onwards and upwards. Love Kari

Not long to go..... Was thinking that some thought you were a bit of a 'crack pot' as you were setting off and I was just reminded of the story of those who carried water in a 'cracked pot' and the wonderful result of lovely plants along the path that were watered as water was carried. You have been 'watering' as you have plodded along and many have been refreshed by your sharing/perseverence/courage/vision & of course being cracked pots too!!! :*)

What a wonderful thing you have been undertaking. Those 2000 nations I am sure would be truely greatful as you have made so many aware of their need for the bible in their languages. I hope that the seeds that you have now planted will now grow into a truely large and plenful harvest of souls as these people are recognised, prayed for and reached out to. 5% to go! Keep up the great work guys!

Hi Fellas
I was only discussing this passage (Matt 24:14) with one of my sons this evening and saying the 2000 walk should give us all increased incentive to pray and support the sending of more translators. Looking forward to meeting up with you in Warwick Tuesday
